My work revolves around the body and its connections to clothing and its surrounding environment. I take photos of my family and close friends in intimate and vulnerable settings to dissolve the space in between the camera, myself and them. I focus on black and white photography, documenting the usually unseen side to femininity, capturing this through dark silhouettes and movement of the body.
‘Body’ 2022/23
Photography
It takes a lot of strength and self commitment to see your body in its most purest and intimate self. This is a series of photographs which I have been developing over the past year, with this project I have aimed to make my subjects feel completely comfortable in a setting which they might feel sensitive or be in a place which is out of their comfort zone. By becoming close with my subjects I am able to dissolve the invisible barrier which tends to appear when someone if put in front of a camera. I am then able to capture the truest form of the body and their emotions, while also maintaining the slight awkwardness of how the body reacts to the lens.
